The California-based lifestyle brand UGG® has teamed up with the online retailer Zappos.com to create its first inclusive footwear collection. UGG® UNIVERSAL features two heritage styles – the Classic Short and Neumel – reimagined with adaptive elements such as oversized zippers and adjustable laces.
This collection is especially poignant following the unexpected passing of Tony Hsieh, former CEO of Zappos, at the end of 2020. Tony was a dedicated leader, visionary, trailblazer, and community-member, whose legacy lives on through the Zappos culture of innovation and customer service that he helped shape. Tony’s passion for product and people set the bar high for the footwear industry, challenging other industry leaders to innovate and focus on the consumer. The UGG® UNIVERSAL collection reflects this ethos.
The range is available on the accessible Zappos Adaptive platform and follows extensive research among people with disabilities to ensure that the products are tailored with a universal design to address a variety of needs. The partnership further communicates that UGG® is a truly democratic brand made for anyone who wants to feel as good as they look, making timeless style more effortless than ever.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Zappos for the launch of UGG UNIVERSAL,’ said Andrea O'Donnell, President, Fashion Lifestyle at Deckers Brands, UGG’s parent company. “Not only has Zappos created Zappos Adaptive, a curated shopping experience that makes fashion functional and available to all, but they have encouraged us to adapt our heritage styles, so they are now truly accessible. We are very proud to be part of the Zappos Adaptive program."
Dana Zumbo, Business Development Manager at Zappos Adaptive, said: "We greatly value our partnership with UGG, a brand that shares our deep commitment for championing inclusivity and reducing inequalities within the fashion industry. To bring this collection to life, we worked side-by-side hosting focus groups with a diverse group of people with disabilities to receive first-hand feedback. We're humbled by the experience of getting to play a part in the UGG brand's first-ever universal design."
The Classic Short style comes in Chestnut and Black colorways and the Neumel in Chestnut, Black and Grey. With adaptive features such as oversized double zippers, rear pull-tabs, and toggle-adjusted stretch laces, the collection includes women's and men's styles ranging from sizes 5-18 and kids' product ranging from sizes 10-6, with prices between $130 and $170. UGG® UNIVERSAL is available now on Zappos.com.
