Each year, Fashion Revolution releases its Fashion Transparency Index ranking 250 of the world’s largest fashion brands and retailers according to how much information they disclose about social and environmental policies, practices, and impact in their operations and supply chain.

This year – drumroll please – UGG ranks amongst the 20 highest scoring brands in the index. Additionally, our score increase of 37% since 2020 is second highest amongst all brands in the Index.
Let’s not get too excited, though – there’s still a long way to go to achieve transparency, but it feels good to have our efforts recognized.
We know we’re not perfect, but we’re definitely heading in the right direction. Transparency is only a small step in our journey to become a more sustainable business, yet it’s key for consumers to make more conscious buying decisions. We want to make sure that you’re fully aware of what’s going on in our supply chain, and we’re working tirelessly every day to do better, think bigger, and be disruptive in the best possible way.
Our approach to ensuring an ethical supply chain is multi-layered.
First, UGG believes that we are stronger together, so we’ve collaborated with a wide range of external leaders and stakeholders – such as HERproject, which empowers women in global supply chains, or Better Work, an international organization dedicated to improving working conditions and rights for workers in the fashion sector. We audit every single factory that makes our products and engage our key material suppliers based on International Labour Organization standards, making this information available to you on our website, which we update on a regular basis.
Next, our factories receive a performance scorecard from UGG including ratings on the audit, social compliance, and environmental performance. We’re proud that approximately 93% of our Tier 1 partners rank either Champion or Excellent – meaning they score above 80% on their audit – but we will keep working with them to do even better. This is why our Ethical Supply Chain team provides training on the ground to continue implementing our Supplier Code of Conduct into their businesses, as well as various key policies highlighting our ethical values and vision.
Finally, we take the health and safety of all employees seriously. Whether in our headquarters or in the factories, we ensure that each workplace meets our expectations. Since the start of the global pandemic, we have engaged with our supply chain partners to take all measures possible to keep their workers safe and healthy.
There’s always more to be done in this space, and we’re determined to make the fashion industry more transparent together with our entire supply chain to truly make a difference. #UggTogether
